A pupil has died after a water fountain fell on him at a school in Qalioubiya, the latest in a series of fatalities at schools in Egypt. Â A local education ministry official in the Nile Delta town said an investigation would be opened into the tragedy, which took place earlier this week, Al-Ahram Arabic news website reported. The head of the school’s security and another education official have been suspended and will be investigated over a delay in reporting the incident to the ministry. It is the fourth death on school premises in Egypt this month. A pupil was killed and another injured when they were hit by a vehicle delivering food supplies to a primary school in Atfieh, Giza. A seven-year-old was killed in the town of Negila in Marsa Matrouh governorate when the school gate fell on him. In Cairo’s Matariya district, a student was killed when a classroom window fell on him and broke his neck. Complaints that Egyptian public schools have long been deteriorating and lacking basic safety features have become abundant.
