Fire destroys more than 50 shops in Cairo’s Shubra

A huge fire erupted Saturday in Cairo’s Shubra neighbourhood, destroying more than 50 shops reported Al-Ahram Arabic website.

 

Seventeen firefighting trucks were sent to the scene to control the blaze. Several injuries, mainly from smoke inhalation, have been reported.

Most affected stores were clothes shops.

Another smaller fire was reported Saturday in Cairo’s Metro administrative headquarters. However, no damage was reported and the fire was quickly contained.
